Cyber crime is a very common threat today and has led to the development of various security measures adopted by governments and organisations. Cybersecurity, computer security or IT security is the protection of computer systems from theft of or damage to their hardware, software or electronic data, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. The field is of growing importance due to increasing reliance on computer systems, the Internet and wireless networks such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and due to the growth of “smart” devices, including smartphones, televisions and the various tiny devices that constitute the Internet of Things.
At Sigma, we believe that students should not be limited by specialised knowledge, and should instead be exposed to a wide variety of subjects, including current affairs. Keeping this in a mind, a seminar on cyber security was organised on 16th August in Sigma Institute of Engineering for the IT Department. Mr Vivek Pradhan conducted the seminar and presented many tips on how to prevent cuber attacks.
